metal gods in the mountains

be jealous. be very jealous.

the ride to asheville was actually a quite pleasant one. im sure it was the company this time. Brandon and i went to see Iced Earth (mah favorite "freaking heavy metal" band and the band that he refers to as the gods of metal and/or heavy metal's only hope) on Monday night. we drove eight hours to get there. a ticket, a few chapters of streams of silver, lots o snacks, a few little tiffs, and the yellow car game later we finally arrived in the lovely little city of asheville. our hotel was nothing special but it certainly served its purpose of crash space after the drive. then we were off to jack of the wood an interesting little british isle themed pub.

we arrived at the orange peel, after checking out the city a bit, and waited (quite hyper) in the line. of course i couldnt resist bringing my camera and i hoped! that they would allow me to bring it in. the security guy allowed that but threw away my advil bottle(?) whatever. i figured out the lighting situation while watching Into Eternity. they were a reeeeeally good band. i was sad to see them go and be replaced by saviors. they turned out to be the typical heavy metal band that bores me to tears.
the pinnacle- Iced Earth taking the stage and watching Brandon's face light up. seriously, this was one of the best shows i have EVER seen. the guys were AMAZING and they played an intense selections of songs from their well rounded discography. we met the band and were pretty unable to form sentences.... awestruck and a bit retarded.
it was probably the best gift possible to give to Brandon.
again, i apologize for turning into a troll in the middle of the car a couple of times. but those moments are not what i remember. hopefully this is the beginning of many road trips to come (i wanna see pinson mounds, i wanna go to arkansas, float down the spring river, go whitewater rafting, visit my cousin and other family in florida.....)
i had more fun with you than i have EVER had in a car for that long (believe it or not)
:)
i hope you enjoyed the trip.
i love you.
